# 5 Comments. # Diamonds should be light purple. That would give the light blue back to Spring where it belongs, light purple is closer to red, and light purple goes with pink in the same way light and dark green go together.

That actually sounds pretty good. At least it would match the original Mesomorph colors. Actually, I would say that red is to pink as dark green is to light green, but red is already in use, and light purple and pink are often used together, so I guess that works too.

Most 4-colored poker decks have black spades, red hearts, green clubs, and blue diamonds. These match nicely with the standard piecepack suits of black moons, red suns, green crowns, and blue arms. Use the one color scheme (either light or dark) for the piecepack suits and another for the 4-colored poker suits. That would leave the yellow, orange, and the two purples for another expansion.

Interestingly the Rainbow Deck SuperDeluxe (i.e. Rainbow deck plus six sets of 27 poker chips, 6 dice, and 6 meeples) can be used for many piecepack games and if you add stickers or paint both sides of 24 (of 27) of one color's poker chips to get 24 directional piecepack coins it can be used for all piecepack games that don't depend on a thick tile (i.e. to create 3D structures or dexterity games). I.e. each card has a grid on the back and shows suit / value on the front (with a specially marked corner) so they can be used as a piecepack tile. Each suit has a six-valued die and a pawn and if you add stickers or paint both sides of one color's poker chips you'd have 24 piecepack coins only revealing value and direction on one side and direction and suit on the other. Purple is a good color to make coins from its chips since it won't get confused with any of the traditional piecepack suits. In addition you could use the extra poker chips in the other five colors to play Alien Cities ;-).

Because each card is wide and narrow it doesn't offer a perfect replacement for a tile since you can make a 50/50 guess where a special corner is based on orientation. However one way to get truly random corners is to randomly "mark" the suit corner of the tile's face by randomly placing one of poker chip of the same color as its suit (or the 6th color excluding coin color and 4 suit colors) in that corner when it gets flipped up. Each time you flip up a card roll a dice to determine which corner gets marked (i.e. 1-4 is each a separate direction, re-roll if get 5-6 unless you build a hex board with hex directions in which case 1-6 each corresponds to a different part of the card).

The Rainbow Deck versions 2.0 and 3.0 colors the suits were updated to reflect the colors mentioned above (i.e. black spades, red hearts, green clubs, and blue diamonds but version 3.0 switchs drops to confusingly purple crowns).
