  Now, as if by magic, the offending links have vanished. If one of the
  moderators did not remove them, then perhaps the person who posted
  them did. Anyway, there were links to dating services, medical links,
  etc. I can't remember them all. But they're gone now.

  He's right (it wasn't your imagination Clark). Until recently, there were indeed many bogus links, and now they're gone.
