Games that would be good for 2 players:

Powerlines (easy rules, tough strategy, short playing time)

The In Crowd (competition winner #6, easy to learn)

Games that scale for 2 players and up:

Chariots  (2-4)
Hanging Gardens (2-4) 
Sailboat Regatta (2-10)
Sarcophagus (2-4)

Games for 4 players:

New City (contest winner #3)
