The gold set is done with a different type of plastic - reverse engraving,
so the graphics are actually "buried" halfway in the piece. You might be
able to see different colors if you played the game on a high contrast or
reflective surface - possibly, but not likely.
Does this mean that the surface is completely flat, making it
impossible to identify a piece by feel? Given that these sets are for
contest winners only, I assume that they are the result of a
successful yet expensive experiment.
