Word Golf, also known as Doublets or Word Ladders, is one of many games invented by Lewis Carroll. The objective is to change one word into another, one letter at a time, in as few steps as possible. Every changed letter must result in a valid English word.
To start, choose two words of the same length, preferably three to six letters. The starting and ending words should be related: antonyms, synonyms, or members of a category, such as animals or personal names.
Here is an example, changing BLACK to WHITE:
BLACK
SLACK
STACK
STALK
STALE
SHALE
WHALE
WHILE
WHITE
