Facts in Five, originally part of the 3M Bookshelf Series, is a commercial adaptation of the folk game ["Guggenheim"]. It has been published by various companies since 1964. Five cards are drawn. Each card contains a "class" and a list of "categories". A category is selected for each class and the players and five letter tiles are drawn. The players have five minutes to come up with an example that begins with each letter for each class/category. There are also variations on the game to make it harder (like using the same letter for all five words) or to allow children to play against adults competitively, with easier questions. In 2007, the game became part of University Games' Bookcase Series, with a 2006 copyright date. It was updated to change the letter distribution and remove some of the more difficult categories: //e.g.//, foreign words, spelling, authors of specified ethnic ancestries. The game was made more a test of pop culture knowledge, and players must now select a Category and Topic (the term "Class" was removed).
