#pragma section-numbers off == Moses Moore == Email: moc.iazom@sesom Often host of a "Dumb Board Games" night in Toronto on Sunday nights. The games are rarely dumb, and neither are the players. == Favourite Games == Such a list changes over time, of course. Some items that have stayed with me are: * ["Mao"], or 'The Name/Game of Our Great Leader'. A metagame like Discordian Solitaire with a strong and dedicated following. * ["Settlers of Catan"], the classic. * ["Zarcana"], a game played with IceHouse pieces. * ["Civilization"] by Avalon Hill. It's hard to find seven players willing to play the hours and hours it takes for a good game. My roommate is working on a way of speeding it up without sacrificing gameplay, and we're playtesting his ideas. * ["Chez Geek"], because it's a great big in-joke and a fun game to boot. * ["Werewolf"], aka 'Mafia'. I've only played one evening, and I thought the game's lack of structure would be it's downfall, but I was pleased to see accusations fly and keen detective skills appear our of thin air. == Games on my shelf == * ["Cosmic Encounter"], the Mayfair edition with the More Cosmic expansion. Rather unpopular in my gaming circle, actually. I'm hoping the descendant of Cosmic, ["Dune"] will catch on even though the copy of the game I have is in French. * Rail games: ["Iron Dragon"] aka 'Dragonrails', EuroRails, and ["Empire Builder"]. I also have an ["18xx"] game, 1856 (which takes place in southern Ontario where I live), but that uses hex tiles and stock markets instead of dry-erase markers and moving tokens on the board. * Catan games: ["Settlers of Catan"], ["Cities and Knights of Catan"] and ["Starfarers of Catan"], with expansions for Settlers and for Starfarers. If anything pushed my gaming circle over the edge into German boardgames, it was Settlers. * Card games: ["Fluxx"], ["Chez Geek"], ["Munchkin"], ["Apples to Apples"], ["Lord of the Fries"], ["Xxxenophile"], ["Once Upon A Time"], ["Illuminati"]. * Tactics: My roommate Pete is a fan of the wooden block systems of Columbia Games -- he's even written published rules for their products. Aside from everything ever made for ["Wizard Kings"], we've also got ["Hammer of the Scots"], ["Quebec 1759"], and ["War of 1812"]. Other moving-combat-units-around games here are ["Axis & Allies"], ["Risk 2210A.D."], ["Amoeba Wars"], ["Middle Earth: The Ring Trilogy"], ["Sceptre 1027A.D."] aka 'Four player chess with terrain', ["Civilization"] with the Advanced rules and Pete's special four-player map, and ["Supremacy"], but everyone here thinks Supremacy commodities market is too flawed to play seriously. * Abstract: I've got an IceHouse set which covers a lot of games, and I've also got a ["Set"] deck which I've gotten people at work to play during lunch instead of Hearts or Euchre. ---- CategoryHomepage ---- Hello, Moses! Wow. Good to see you on the Wiki. Since your Wiki posts were a sudden (and welcome) surprise, I thought I'd surprise you back by messaging you in the same medium. Did you start posting here because the BoardgameGeek Wiki is down, or do you just like us? :) Thanks for adding all the content! The variants (such as the one for Set) are especially interesting to me. Nice work. Please come game with us if you're ever in the Seattle area. --["Ron Hale-Evans"], who has another friend named Moses from Toronto, whose parents are Canadian-Americans, and who has more Canadian in his soul than he usually likes to pretend
