There's a discussion forum being planned for discussing the playing and design of board and card games. It will use a tagging system, so focusing on piecepack should be easy if you're not interested in other gaming topics.
The site will run on the Stack Exchange engine that runs http://stackoverflow.com for computer programming questions and answers. To see something similar to the planned site, you can see http://smartergamer.com/ that runs on an earlier generation of the Stack Exchange engine. Smarter Gamer includes video games as well, but the plan is for the new site to just include board and card games.
If you're interested, please help define what should be on-topic and off-topic for the site. Then commit to being a part of the community and help with the beta testing.

If you'd like to see an alternative to the forum on Board Game Geek, or you think mailing lists are so 90's, I think this is a good place to start.
