I use my pack three different ways.
Firstly, it definitely sees use as a compact handy way to implement standard games. It actually becomes MUCH handier to do more of this if two sets of 8 pawns are added, to facilitate play of many different abstracts, using the tiles grid-side-up to form the boards.
Secondly, I use the pack to play some of the games specifically designed for it. There are some very good games that can only be played with a piecepack or else using purpose-made custom components.
Thirdly, the pack can be very handy in helping me with my game design hobby. Especially when just noodling around with a new game design idea, it's very handy to have the tiles for forming boards or representing goods or cities or whatever, and the color-matched dice and coins can also be pressed into service until purpose-made components are made.
